How to spend my tax return(s)???

The husband did our taxes the other day with Turbo tax. We usually have our accountant do them but last year and this year he did it himself. He says it was easy and quick. Guess we are getting some money back. I was hoping for more (of course) but I guess getting thousands is better than having to pay thousands! Right?

Hubby and me = not good right now. Our 10 year Anniversary is in May. He wants to make reservations like NOW for our Anniversary trip. Anywhere I want to go that is "Tropical". I don't know what I want period. Period.

Do I really want to spend that much $$ on a vacation if all we are doing is trying to kill each other with our eyes and words??? I thought the "bend" in a marriage is 7years but I am finding mine to be 9-10 years... okay maybe 7 too and wait, it was 5 years as well...lol (This can of beans can wait...)

Also with all the rain this year in Cali, our roof and patio structure in the back is falling apart and leaking, so that will be some fat bills. I remember being young and calling my landlord when problems like these arose, now I call the husband. LOL

And i want a new car. I am tired of driving a Big Huge Loud Diesel Truck and now when I get in my Toyota Camry I feel so low to the ground (I mean LOW like Fred Flinstone low)

I want want want... but I still have some bills that need to be paid off, so what to do, what to do with the tax return??? Any ideas people?

Sounds like you're stressed. If you have the balls order a sexy rent boy to give you a, er, full body massage ;)

Emmak,
Hello stranger. Long time.
Yes indeed that is, er, exactly what I need! ;-)

Hopefully, whatever you do ends up for the better of the marriage.

Maybe you can use the tax rebate for extra vacation fun.

I used to have a blog poll on my sidebar of what people were going to do with their tax returns. The general consensus was that people were going to pay bills. Very small percentages went to buying cars, going on vacations and saving it. Sad fact is that most Americans need to pay off plenty of debts, so I guess you either pay it off, or dig yourself deeper.

Personally, I'd choose a vacation. I save for the sake of travel, constantly.

SITC,
I will pay off bills with some. Only some. Of course after I study ;-)

SCurious,
I will travel either alone or with him ;-)

A nice vacation is always a great idea. Someplace nice and relaxing where you can just get away. Always helps to lower the stress levels.

Hmmm, I've never actually gotten a return - I always have to pay. You'd think I make tons of money - but alas, that is not the case :(

Anyways, is it possible to split it down the middle? Do something "fun" like put money down for your trip, and use the other half for bills?

That's usually the way we lean - a little bit of fun, a little bit of responsibility.

Ali,

I would mend the leaky roof first. You can always go to San Francisco for your vacation and laugh at the gay policemen.

Spend the tax return on something that'll make you happy - whether that be a vacation, a new car, paying off the bills or ... as Emmak suggested - a good massage ;)

Sounds like you both need to treat yourselves to something nice. Grab the money fast before it gets sucked into the vortex that is waiting for it.

Be nice to each other, eh?

Nice vacation sounds like a plan... maybe some of the stresses that you guys are dealing with will lesson - on a beach with a fruity drink in your hand.

Sexy underwear is always good too!! ;-)

I'd do the necessary (bills, leaks) and then splurge on some sort of a getaway!

Good luck!

Pay off some bills and instead of a big vacation, plan a couple of long weekend getaways. Alone or together. Cheers!!

I do the repairs to the house. Then plan a trip. Even if you are going to hate each other at least you can do it with a pina colada in your hand and a nice tan. And maybe there will a canbana boy....

I am intending to by a new bedroom set with my return.

take about half of the tax return to pay off the bills... and then blow the rest in vegas on stripers... you know it's the only thing to do...

Gorilla,
Yes I must get that done because it is raining today and will continue until Monday. It is the entire patio structure out back. That is going to cost a lot :(

REH,
Massage... awe yes yes yes.

Rock Chef,
You give great advise my friend.

Elizabeth,
Ur funny. Guess I need to go to Victoria Secrets ;-)

Leighann,
Are you going to give out awards soon on your blog? I need one.

Matt-Man,
Spending all my money on your campaign!

Karen,
Bedroom suit huh? Fun! I have one of those already that isn't considered "old" yet.

That's it! I am never buying a house!

And at this rate, I am never getting a hubby either! More trouble than they're worth?

Yep, someone said bills come first, doesn't that just take the fun out of proceedings?

my best friends parents split like 20 years into the marriage. It was a brick that was thrown through a serene window. No one saw it coming.
Mom #3 I called her, said that she just fell out of love with Dad 3. She said that marriage was work, more work than they ever imagines. and that you always 'love' your husband, but sometimes it isn't as strong, but with work, you fall in love again, over and over. Two years later, they were back together..and have been ever since. That was 10 years ago.

I do hope love finds you again J..
Although my marriage isn't full of ups right now, I couldn't imagine my life without Michael.
